Gift client project for VACHERON CONSTANTIN. On the theme of the voyage of the Beagle.
The voyage of the Beagle refers to a famous scientific expedition led by the British Royal Navy ship HMS Beagle between 1831 and 1836. The voyage is best known for having provided naturalist Charles Darwin with the opportunity to collect observations and specimens that contributed significantly to the development of his theory of evolution by natural selection. The voyage of the Beagle is a landmark event in the history of the natural sciences and laid the foundations of modern evolutionary biology.
Here, I was asked to illustrate the cartography of this journey. As well as the main species of animals that live on the different continents and in the different seas of the globe.
This large unfoldable poster is intended as a colouring gift for children. The challenge here was to find an illustration style that was both playful and educational, while incorporating the codes and world of fine watchmaking of the prestigious brand, VACHERON CONSTANTIN.
During the process…
Poster dimensions: open : 980 x 680mm, folded : 245 x 170 mm - Paper 100% FSC, extra white, FSC mixed, 90 gm2
A coloured version has been created for a ‘Furoshiki’ cloth.
Having really appreciated the design of the poster, the client then asked me to use the illustrations of the animals to create a wooden Memory game.
